Combating Moisture between the Structure and Cladding

Spring kicks off the home building season and in some parts of the country the season brings rainy weather, posing serious challenges both during and after home construction is complete.

If you’re combating moisture management issues on the jobsite, LP Building Solutions has a new innovation to address it.

LP® WeatherLogic® Water Screen helps extend the life of all exterior surfaces with increased ventilation and drainage. The Water Screen separates the moisture-resistant air barrier from all types of cladding, enabling rainwater and moisture to channel away and evaporate.

"Water getting trapped into the structure creates problems," says Casey Smyth, marketing product manager. "When the house isn't weatherized properly, channeling water can infiltrate wall panels and create an unhealthy environment to live in. The problem often isn't uncovered until the homeowner finds water spots inside the home and files an insurance claim."

Designed to maximize your build’s moisture protection and protect against mold growth, LP WeatherLogic Water Screen is a lightweight, easy-to-install synthetic polymer-based screen. It can be used with either OSB or house wrap or with an integrated panel like LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier.

If moisture enters the structure, it drains rapidly through the compression-resistant filaments. The Water Screen does not absorb any moisture, and the air channel allows any moisture to move out of the structure, so the moisture doesn't cause rot, mold or structural damage. "LP WeatherLogic Water Screen offers peace of mind that moisture is able to drain out and air is able to completely dry out the structure," says Smyth.
