Building a More Sustainable Future with LP Building Solutions
In today's world, sustainability is no longer just a buzzword, it's a blueprint for responsible living and smarter building. As the construction industry seeks ways to reduce its environmental footprint, LP Building Solutions is focused on providing innovative building materials for eco-conscious builders to help reshape what it means to build sustainably
Engineered for the Environment
LP Building Solutions has long been known for its engineered wood products, which are durable, consistent, and sustainable. Products like LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding and LP Legacy® Premium Sub-Flooring are designed to last and reduce waste, thanks to their engineered makeup.
Unlike traditional wood, which may require old-growth trees, LP's engineered wood products are made from fast-growing, renewable wood species like aspen, poplar, and southern yellow pine. These trees regenerate quickly and can be sourced from well-managed forests, helping reduce pressure on old-growth ecosystems.
Carbon Conscious from the Start
To create sustainable siding as a carbon negative product, LP tracks their impact from material sourcing to customer distribution and uses renewable materials and intentional manufacturing to reduce emissions and environmental impact. In fact, compared to fiber cement-based products, LP SmartSide products emit 54 % less greenhouse gases. LP also uses 99 % of logs delivered to mills either in the products themselves or as a renewable energy source in the manufacturing process. The final product is made of 91 % wood fiber coming from renewable wood sources.
Responsible Forestry and Certifications
LP works closely with third-party certification bodies, including SFI® (Sustainable Forestry Initiative), to ensure that wood is sourced responsibly and that forests are managed with biodiversity and long-term regeneration in mind. This commitment to certified wood sourcing ensures not only environmental integrity but also aligns with green building codes like LEED®, HERS (Home Energy Rating System), and ZNE (Zero Net Energy), giving builders and homeowners peace of mind that their materials meet the highest sustainability standards.
Built to Last, Built for Reducing Waste
Durability is a cornerstone of sustainability. The longer a product lasts, the less often it needs to be replaced, reducing both environmental and financial costs over time. LP SmartSide products are treated with LP's proprietary SmartGuard® process, which helps protect against fungal decay, termites, and many weather conditions. The result? Reduce jobsite waste, fewer callbacks, and longer-lasting homes that perform year after year.
Innovation with Impact
Are you ready to start creating a more sustainable future? LP® SmartSide® engineered wood products store 10 times more carbon than fiber cement products, making them an environmentally conscious siding option.
