Home Improvement Show Proves Your Siding Project Can Be A Smooth Journey

The popular Lifetime Channel remodeling show Designing Spaces likes to document the home improvement journey to show that it can indeed be a manageable experience. The program recently shared the story of James and Stella, a professional couple in Wilmington, North Carolina, who did a re-siding project that went smoothly from start to finish.

James and Stella's 108-year-old home still had its original siding when Hurricane Florence battered it in 2018. Even before the storm, the traditional wood siding showed signs of fungal decay and was peeling in many places because it was too old to allow paint to adhere properly. The couple began researching siding replacement choices, hoping to find a material that was durable enough to withstand extreme weather while matching the historic look of the original siding. As they gathered facts, they found that many contractors in the coastal area were too busy in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence to even schedule a visit.

The couple felt that LP® SmartSide® Smooth Trim & Siding met their criteria, so they requested a quote. Soon after, Brent Taylor, owner of the O.C. Taylor remodeling company in nearby Raleigh, reached out to the couple. Brent is a Master-level member of the LP BuildSmart Preferred Contractor Program and has received extensive training, both in LP SmartSide Trim & Siding design features and installation best practices.

Brent drove the two hours from Raleigh to Wilmington so he could meet personally with James and Stella. Since Wilmington is a port city just off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, Brent explained that LP SmartSide lap siding is durable enough to withstand up to 200 mph wind gusts, which is especially important in their coastal region. He also showed them how LP SmartSide Smooth siding would match the historic charm of the original siding of the century-old home. The couple was pleased with Brent’s presentation and decided to proceed with the re-siding project.

James and Stella’s journey from research to re-siding shows just how easy the process may be, especially if you find an LP BuildSmart member like Brent who is the epitome of professionalism. Check out their inspiring story that aired on Designing Spaces and reach out for a quote when you are ready for your own LP SmartSide Trim & Siding experience.
