LP® Outdoor Building Solutions® Partners with Hope Crisis Response Network to Build 100 Sheds for Sonoma County Wildfire Survivors
On June 9, 2018, LP® Outdoor Building Solutions® partnered with the Hope Crisis Response Network in the Inspiring Hope Shed Build event to build 100 sheds for families who lost their homes in the Sonoma County wildfires in fall 2017. Through this partnership, the LP Foundation worked with LP Outdoor Building Solutions, donating 40 000 $ worth of building materials for the sheds, which will be used to store tools and equipment while fire survivors rebuild their homes.
The event attracted over 900 volunteers, who were divided into teams of four to eight people and paired with homeowners to build the sheds. LP Building Solutions Senior Market Development Manager, Dee Dee Graham, who helped facilitate the donation, volunteered at the event and said, "That day, I couldn't help but feel extremely proud to be an LP employee. The turnout was very inspiring, with hundreds of incredible volunteers donating their time and working together to help rebuild their community."
Hope Crisis Response Network CEO and Founder Kevin Cox, who worked with Dee Dee to coordinate the product donation, said, "This event had a three-fold purpose. First, homeowners who are collecting items as they work on their property need a place to store them. Secondly, the shed is the beginning of the rebuilding process. It denotes progress and gives homeowners a sense of hope. Thirdly, the build begins the process of recruiting volunteers for home rebuilds in Sonoma County, as volunteers get a sample of the rewards of providing assistance to these families."
As a company, LP Building Solutions is committed to building strong relationships within their communities, whether that be through monetary or in-kind donations or volunteerism. This effort is an example of both, and part of the company's overall commitment to giving back and supporting the communities where they live and work.
