LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® Trim & Siding Wins Over Pros in Online Remodeling Project

Professional Remodeler kicked off its Model ReModel West project, illustrating best practices in construction and remodeling. LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® Trim & Siding was chosen to re-side a beautiful 900 sq. ft. A-frame mountain home near Flagstaff, Arizona.

"This is an incredible product," says premium residential design/build contractor Bill Owens, founder and president of Owens Construction. "The durability in handling it and what we know will be an extremely long-lived product grabbed our attention early in the process."

His enthusiasm for LP® SmartSide® products continued during installation. “It is incredible how we can move LP SmartSide products around the jobsite. We can have one guy carry multiple boards without any breakage. One thing that we're really amazed by is the ability to work with these longer lengths. It creates a better aesthetic to have less seams.”

Three reasons why LP SmartSide products were chosen for the Model ReModel project:

  1. Cuts like wood: Owens said they loved being able to gang-cut up to five pieces with regular woodworking tools. No special blades or dust-extraction strategies were required.
  2. Strong and impact resistant: The LP® SmartGuard® process helps make the siding resistant to moisture and fungal decay. LP SmartSide products are strong even though they are lightweight to carry. They are engineered to withstand tough storms with wind gusts up to 200 miles per hour.
  3. Efficient by design: Owens was impressed with the design flexibility the product provided. “Not only did it provide a better exterior, but it created less waste on the jobsite, too, and we loved the 16-foot trim we were able to use. Additionally, the LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® Lap Siding reduced the need for seam caulking, joint molds or pan flashing at butt joints, increasing overall efficiency.”

The A-frame house project used the new LP SmartSide ExpertFinish Trim & Siding in Quarry Gray because of the aesthetic and how it complemented the pine trees on the mountain property. "We know we have a product that is going to stand the test of time," says Owens.
