Offering Proof of High Performance
Builders don't want to take chances on unproven materials - and they're wary of products that bill themselves as "high performance" without offering proof. In this industry, building product proof of performance is something taken seriously.
At LP, we understand that our customers need thorough validation of all product claims done through building product testing. That's why we put our products through some of the most grueling tests imaginable. Here are some examples of field and lab testing of building products from LP:
- Our LP Legacy® Premium Sub-Flooring has its own website at testedextreme.com – and here’s what we mean by extreme - standing up to shark attacks, getting repeatedly pounded by ramp-propelled mountain bikers and withstanding sustained immersion for 24 hours after going down a waterfall. - LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding has been tested for damage resistance by third parties, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In the NASA impact testing, a golf ball traveling 63 miles per hour and a baseball thrown at 77 miles per hour left no visible damage to the siding. Testing shows that LP SmartSide strand products offer outstanding impact resistance, which means they can stand up better against everything from everyday bumps to airborne storm debris. - LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier performed brilliantly in the ASTM E96 test for water vapor transmission, proving that it allows water vapor to escape the building wall system. The product’s seam and flashing tape was successfully tested by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association. Then it seals super-tight to fully protect the building enclosure.
