LP 20-Year Employee Spotlight: Jimmy Pardue of Roaring River, North Carolina

In conjunction with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the LP® SmartSide® brand, LP continues to honor the hardworking women and men who make and sell our robust, performance-driven engineered wood siding options. Today we feature Jimmy Pardue, another employee who has contributed to two decades of success.

Nearly Four Decades of Service

Jimmy Pardue has been working at the LP mill in Roaring River, North Carolina, for nearly four decades. He's a manufacturing supervisor, a role he has filled since 2008. Jimmy was first hired as a manufacturer helper back in 1980, and slowly worked his way up the ranks through manufacturing inspector, foreman machine operator, press operator and manufacturing leader to become manufacturing supervisor.

In his current position, Jimmy is responsible for overseeing two manufacturing production lines at Roaring River that generate a variety of LP SmartSide products. His top priority is to keep employees within his mill department safe. In order to accomplish this, he runs daily safety meetings and monthly safety training, oversees corporate safety programs and enforces all safety rules.

He also ensures the manufacturing department follows environmental policies and procedures, runs and maintains environmental management systems, and ensures process and product specifications are followed. When he's not busy all with these responsibilities, Jimmy attends production and quality meetings, ensures housekeeping in the department, and plans all downtime and outage work. That's a lot of work in a plant with an annual capacity of 300 million square feet of siding, trim and soffit a year - enough to clad 102 000 homes annually.

‘Top-Notch People, Quality Products'

When asked what he enjoys most about working at LP, Jimmy doesn't hesitate. "I like working with the people," he says. "My team and our management are top-notch. We're like family." Jimmy also appreciates LP's ongoing innovation in developing new products for the mill to produce.

For Jimmy, the committed safety culture that LP has developed is what sets it apart from other companies. In addition, he feels the company produces a high-quality product that every employee can be proud of. "When I see the product outside the mill, it really makes me proud," he says. "Recently I saw my nephew's house under construction. There were LP products on the floor, and they were putting up LP SmartSide siding and trim. It's a great feeling knowing that the work we do will protect homes for decades to come."

The Future Is Looking Bright

LP gratefully acknowledges Jimmy Pardue and all other team members that contribute to our company's ongoing success. Happy 20th birthday, LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding! The future is looking bright.
