Builder Pros Provide Quick Taping Tips for Installing LP WeatherLogic® Tape

You may have heard the new LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier installs with ease—similar, in fact, to regular OSB. A critical part of the moisture management system, LP WeatherLogic Seam & Flashing Tape keeps water out and energy in.

We asked builder pro contractors Kyle Stumpenhorst of @rrbuildings and Jordan Smith of @jordansmithbuilds to show how easy it is to install LP WeatherLogic panels and provide some LPQuickTips for installing the tape.

Pro taping tips:

  • Start from the bottom and work up to properly “shingle” the tape. Shingle the tape horizontally before shingling vertically so that when tapes intersect, the tape that is “uphill” is positioned on top. That way, water will run down over the top of the tape.
  • Check for white marks from the squeegee provided on your tape so you know you’ve applied enough pressure for it to properly adhere.
  • If a nail is overdriven beyond the face of the board, use a 4˝ x 3-3/4˝ section of tape over the nail head.
  • See pro contractor Jordan Smith explain the process of removing the tape here.
  • If you need to redo the installation of the tape, it can be lifted and repositioned once during initial installation. After that, the tape has adhered completely.

Jordan recently put LP WeatherLogic Seam & Flashing Tape to the test to pull off the tape after 24 hours (something we do not advise). Moral of the story—if you need to redo the tape, do it immediately.
